Schumann - Piano Concerto
Schumann’s virtually uninterrupted run of solo piano masterpieces during the 1830s was written with his wife Clara in mind — he confessed in a letter that ‘the music all goes to you’. One of the most treasurable collections of this period is Kinderszenen (‘Scenes of Childhood’, 1838, tracks 4–16), a sequence of 13 exquisite gems that despite their prevailingly innocent tone are occasionally quite challenging to play.
